Push Play for Introduction

WILLINGNESS

A fraud might be in the process of being committed if the signer is being forced or coerced into the signing of the document

CSNP recommends that you ask the signer

“Are you signing the document of your own free will?”

COMPETENCY OF DOCUMENT SIGNER

Although not required by the Secretary of State, CSNP suggests you be sensitive to whether the signer is:

Ψ

1.1.  18 years or older (16+ and an emancipated minor)

2.
2.

2.  Under the influence of any substance that affects their judgment

3.  3Unable to read or understand the document before signing

Although you must render notary services if the signer is otherwise qualified (properly identified), CSNP recommends that you note into your sequential journal any facts you believe bear on the issue of competency.
