OATH AND AFFIRMATION

An oath is a spoken pledge to a Supreme Being by a person who solemnly promises truthfulness in completing an act or notarization.

An oath traditionally ends with
so help you God

Register the oath and affirmation in your California State sequential journal prior to notarizing any documents

The document signer is not required to raise their right hand but notary may ask the document signer to raise their right hand.

Under penalty of perjury, do you solemnly swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help you God?”

After the notary gives the document signer the oath, the notary may ask the document signer any questions that are material to the notary service or document being notarized.
