Failure to obtain thumbprint, penalty.

 

lA notary public who fails to obtain a thumbprint as required is subject to a civil penalty up to $2,500.

lEither the Secretary of State or a public prosecutor may seek this penalty. There is a four-year statute of limitations for this offense.
