11.Immigration Documents

There are special rules for immigration documents:

1.1. A notary may notarize most immigration documents and charge the normal fee for the notary service.

2.2. A notary may not assist a client to fill out immigration forms unless the notary is a qualified and bonded immigration consultant.

3. 3.Whether or not the notary performs notarial services, a notary who is a qualified and bonded immigration consultant may only charge $10.00 per person for the entire set of immigration forms that the notary assists a person to fill out.

4. The $10.00 fee limitation does not apply if the notary is an attorney rendering professional services

5. A notary is legally barred from advertising if the notary promotes himself as an immigration specialist or consultant

6. A notary may not charge any individual more than $10.00 to complete all forms relating to the change of person’s immigration status

7. This fee limitation applies even if the notary is not performing notary duties.

Any violation of the law, the notary shall be subject to one-year suspension of their commission for the first offense and revocation of the commission upon the second offense.

5.A notary may not translate the terms “notary public, notary, licensed, attorney, lawyer” or any other term that imply the notary is an attorney.

Naturalization Documents

Notaries shall not copy or notarize any Certificate of Naturalization

All persons requesting such service will be referred to the

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
