19. Certified Copies

Certified Copies

CCalifornia code prohibits notaries from certifying copies of documents other than copies of the notary’s:

lSequential journal

lPower of attorney

ØA certified copy is an exact duplicate of the original document that is certified by the notary to be a true, correct and unaltered photocopy.

Copying Entries in the Sequential Journal

On written request by any member of the public,

Øthe notary may copy a line item entry from their journal

Ø The written request shall include:

l1. The name of the principal

l2. The title of document notarized

l3. The month and year of notarization

ØThe notary shall supply a copy of the line item entry at no more than $0.30 per page.
